Listen to a dangerous scam

We often talk about the challenges of living in a digital world where it seems that anything and everything is caught on audio or videotape.

Many of us are repulsed by the constant surveillance of our activities by the government and corporations.

Yet, it can be beneficial when we use technology to reveal the bad deeds of others.

That’s exactly what happened when Steve Ragan was able to record a scammer so the rest of us can hear one of these cybercriminals in action.

And the scam he caught on tape is one that is very common right now. Even in my small community, this scam has tricked many good people into turning over hundreds (even thousands) of dollars to these crooks.

The scam is the Microsoft Tech Support Scam.

Before I give you the link to the article that provides the recording of the scammer, I’m going to predict that almost all of you will listen and say that you’d never fall for the scam. And, I suspect – indeed, I hope – that’s true.

But here’s the reality. Thousands upon thousands of Americans have already fallen for this scam and tens of thousands more will.

So here’s why I want you to listen to the recording. I want you to educate as many people as you can about this scam. Share this advisory and the article with all of your friends and family so they will be educated about this scam. And, ask your friends and family to share it with everyone they know. That way, we can spread the word about this scam.

OK. The article containing the recording is, “Call recording on: Listen to an actual Microsoft support scam as it happened.”

Again, you’ll probably find the recoding funny and you’d probably never fall for this scam. But lots and lots of good people continue to get ripped off by this scam, so let’s spread the word.

Now for a quick change of pace.

I rarely mention specific products to you. But because there’s been such a good response to this water filtration system I recently learned about, I’m going to share a link to the video so you can check it out for yourself.

No hard sell from me – I don’t do that.

But if you’re like me and a bit of a fanatic when it comes to clean water, watch this video and see what you think about this Water Filtration Pitcher system. I tossed out my Brita system and went with this instead.

OK. As always, let me know what you think. You’re feedback is very important to me and I rely on it more than you might think.

Be safe, secure and free!
