When Washington Gun Crazy

Dear Fellow Survivalist;

We all saw it before, during Obama’s presidency; constant threats against our Second Amendment rights. Between Obama’s constant talk about gun bans and the DHS buying up all the ammo there was, we saw shortages and a lot of people buying guns out of fear. Now, with Obama’s protégé in office, we shouldn’t be surprised to see the same thing happening again.

President Biden has a long history of being anti-gun, or at least against law-abiding citizens having guns. On top of that, his party has been becoming more and more opposed to gun rights over the last decade or more. So we really shouldn’t be surprised to see him using every dirty trick in the book to try and take our gun rights away from us. The real question is whether or not he can.

Biden has signed several executive orders with an anti-gun twist, he’s appointed an anti-gun activist to head up ATF and he’s told the ATF to redefine what a gun is, in order to eliminate the ability of people to build their own guns. On top of all that, in his most recent town hall meeting, Biden slipped and said that he wanted to get rid of all 9mm pistols too, referring to them as military-style weapons.

Okay, let’s stop and catch our breath here. First of all, we all know that Joe Biden is famous for his gaffes. We also know that anti-gun Democrats have no idea what they’re talking about, when they start spouting off about gun control. They can only get away with saying their initiatives are “common sense” because they’re talking to people who are just as ignorant of firearms and firearms-related laws as they are. Their audience will accept anything they say.

At the same time, there isn’t popular support for gun control in the United States today. If anything, support is lower than it has been anytime in the last couple of decades. Over the last few years there have been a lot of lifelong Democrats who have bought guns out of fear for the violence that leftist organizations like BLM and ANTIFA have been committing. These new gun owners are buying guns for the same reason many of us have them, to protect themselves.

If you’re reading this, I’m fairly sure that you’re not one of those people. You’ve probably had guns for several years; go to the shooting range whenever you can and probably carry concealed. Therefore, the things that concern others about any actions that Biden or anyone else in Washington might take don’t need to be a concern to you. I’d say that chances are pretty good that you already have enough guns to protect your family, even if you’re still shopping for more.

I’m not saying that you don’t need any more guns; what I’m saying is that there’s really no need to panic. Don’t let yourself get caught up in spending too much due to panic buying. It is doubtful that Biden will accomplish any of the things he is threatening to do. With the Senate split, he can’t pass any new gun laws and anything he tries to do by executive order will face a legal challenge in the courts.

The only thing I can see Biden having any success in is his initiative to try and get the ATF to redefine what a gun is, with the expected result of banning the sale of 80% lowers. Of course, if he does that, the manufacturers of those 80% lowers will simply change their products to meet the new regulations, making it possible for them to continue selling their wares and people to continue making their own guns in the privacy of their own homes.

My answer to that is that if you’re thinking of ever building one of those guns, buy the casting now, before they make those changes. Even if you aren’t ready to buy everything else and build the gun, buying the lower casting now will ensure that you will have it, regardless of what Biden does.

Figure out what you need for your personal gun collection; not what you want, what you need. That includes ammunition and spare parts too. Then, as the opportunity presents itself, fill out that list. Once that’s done, a delay in being able to buy some gun you want won’t be quite as important.

The left isn’t going to stop trying to take our guns away from us. That’s just the way it is. Any Democrat administration, whether this one or some other is going to threaten to take our guns away; that’s part of the political polarization happening in our country right now. We who believe in our Second Amendment rights need to make sure that we take advantage of what opportunities we have, before any of those doors are closed. That way, if a door becomes temporarily closed, we’ll still have what we need.

At the same time, we need to support our Republican Congressmen and women, letting them know that this is an important issue to us and that we expect them to protect our rights. Even thought they already know that, they need to be encouraged to continue fighting the good fight. There’s a lot of pressure on them to recant their position and allow the anti-gun crowd to have their way.

Stock up and stay ready. Keep your ammo dry and your guns that way too for that matter, while you keep your survival gear close at hand.
